Here is the link to the Worksheet…I went ahead and did it today.
The nerdy part of me still loves spreadsheets.
Yesterday we went pretty deep into Triggers.
Did you uncover and explore any of yours?
Would love to hear about it…
For today and the next 3 days, we are going to be going over something I took off my bedroom wall.
Yes, I am one of THOSE people…
who puts ‘stuff’ like exercises and reminders on my wall.
I put affirmations and goals on my bathroom mirror too!
I saw it in a movie once and laughed because I do that too.
Apparently I am not the only one.
I got this list originally from Lynn Grabhorn…so excited to get my updated book, workbook and stories book based on her original work tomorrow..sometimes I love Amazon!
We will be discussing 4 Areas of Our Lives that we need to address when dealing with our chronic pain.
Now, don’t worry…I am not going to go all spiritual or religious on you…
We all get to believe what we want to believe.
Ask my mom…she thinks I am off my rocker sometimes.
I am just sharing tools with you that may or may not work for you.
Use what works for you…
Leave the rest.
That is what we all must do.
Today’s challenges or exercises are all about PHYSICAL aspects of our life, health/well-being, illness/chronic pain…
We will look at 6 ACTION Areas and determine what things we can/can not do in each area.
Every single one of us is unique and different.
It is up to you to figure out what works for you.
I can’t do it for you.
Your doctors and nurses and health care providers can not do it for you.
Your family and friends can not do it for you.
It is entirely up to YOU.
So…let’s dive in (that would be physical)…
1. Do something from your JOY LIST
You have a JOY List, right?
If not, now is the time to start one.
Brainstorm at least 10 things you like to do (Physically) that bring you joy…make you happy.
I keep this list on my refrigerator…
I also keep a list by my bed…
Where ever is handy and makes sense for you.
It should be somewhere you can see it as an easy reminder.
Bubble baths, read a book, watch a movie, write something, learn something new…things like this are on my list.
What’s on yours?
What will you put on yours?
2. Dining Out/Movie/Other Evert or activity that gets you physically out and about.
Tomorrow afternoon a group of friends and I will go to happy hour…we actually just go eat appetizers and catch up…but it physically gets me out doing something positive and fun WITH other human beings (that I am not working or living with every day)!
3. Any Kind Of PLAY-
Whatever this is for you.
I like to go for walks in Nature!
Maybe you like to play cards.
Anything that gets you physically involved with your environment is terrific.
4. Body Care – anything you do to take care of you.
Hair cut, nails done (hands or feet), teeth whitened (although I think the dentist lied and this actually HURT)…whatever makes you feel better about yourself.
Secret: The better you feel about yourself and your physical appearance, the less pain you feel.
5. Had friends over-
I am not so terrific at this one.
It could be because I am in the midst of a HUGE sort, fix up and move project at my home.
But the point is to continue to interact with other human beings.
6. Bought something for yourself-
Not your regular monthly expenses…but something to make you feel better.
A new lipstick (sorry guys)
A new pair of socks
Even a new toothbrush might make you feel better!
But…it has to be something personal just for you.
I love to buy notebooks. I am always writing things down and tracking them.
Anything that physical engages you in your life…
anything you physically experience…
anything that lifts your spirits…
reduces your pain!
So, every day, you just write down the number of times you do something in each of these 6 categories…on your worksheet.
You won’t do something in each category everyday.
You won’t do something even in each area of your life (PEMS) every day…
doing it will show you patterns…
it will show you where you can do some things in your life (which areas)…
that can and will reduce your chronic pain.
Third: Power Thought Card
“I see clearly”
“I willingly forgive. I breathe love into my visions and I see with compassion and understanding. My clear insight is reflected in my outer sight.”
I am feeling better and better.
I am feeling better and better right now.
Why is it so easy for me to be feeling better and better (right now) now? Today? All the time???
Fifth: If This Is Your Life, Here Are The Rules Card:
“Live without restriction or limitation.”
Nature Of Infinite Love & Gratitude Card:
“The universe and the mind are the great frontier, the unending entity of boundless mystery. …By be-ing, I experience the infinite essence and wonder of life.”
