Today…we are going to put the focus outside of our self.

We are going to…

This is our challenge for today.

For many of us, doing something nice for other people just comes naturally.

How often to you find yourself talking to a friend and sharing all the things you do for others?

I have a friend who does SOOOOOOOOO much for other people, she is amazing.

The problem is…

She tells everyone about it…

She Expects Something In Return!

I don’t think she even knows she does thiis…

but she does.

There are a couple of problems with this.

  1.  No body can possibly ever repay her in kind for all the things she does.  (She often goes overboard…)
  2.  She gets disappointed when folks do not do nice things back for her…

Giving is the key to happiness.

I believe this.

Giving for the sake of giving…

and making the world a better place…

without consideration or expectation of getting something in return.

Giving IS NOT Selling.

Selling is providing something and expecting something in return…

Like getting paid for selling a product or service.

You are not doing nice things for people because you are trying to sell them something.

Here is another example of what I mean…

I was in a Network Marketing Company for a while (you may have gotten an annoying notice or post from me…I am sorry!  I did not know better.)…yes, I admit it.

I actually LOVE the products…they help me out personally, a lot.

I credit them (and several other supplements) with helping me to be able to get out of bed most days.

Several of the leaders in the opportunity, do nice things and them slap them all over social media.

To me…it always feels ‘off’…

and like a cheesy grab for attention

and accolades.

Buy your mom a car, by all means…

but do you really need to tell everyone about it?

This is done for self-promotion (and to build their particular MLM business)…

it is not because they just wanted to help someone out.

By all means…

invite a homeless person to Thanksgiving…

but don’t post it all over social media…

or even tell your friends.

Just DO it for the sake of being a good human being.

Be A Giver

Successful Entrepreners are GIVERS and not TAKERS of Positive Energy!

that certainly went in a slightly different direction,

than I originally intended

when I decided on today’s challenge.

Let me ask you a question.

When someone does something NICE for you

and then tells a bunch of people about it…

how does that make you feel?

Makes me feel pretty shitty.

It almost negates the nice thing they did in the first place.

It definitely lowers my self esteem and feeling of status from having them do the nice thing for me.

Here is a little example.

I come from a family of 5 women (Mom and 4 girls)…

so, of course, we share clothes.

I am NOT the family fashionista…to say the least.

That means that my fabulous sisters often have to “dress me” for special occasions.

They have perpetual ammunition to pick on me about my shoes…

I just don’t much care about shoes.

This statement will horrify the women in my family!

We go to the special event and I am feeling fabulous….

until one of them starts telling people (usually not everyone, but it feels that way)

that I am wearing her dress, shoes, jewelry…whatever.

The point is…it was super awesome that they lent me the ‘fixings’…

I love that feeling…

up until the point when someone comes and says “I love (insert name here’s) dress, on you.”

That ruined it for me…

Not really, but you understand what I am getting at…

Does it really raise the lenders (nice-doers) status by telling others about it?

Not in my opinion…

but that doesn’t matter.

What do you think?

Give Love

I Am A Love Giver

I will admit…I have done this…done something nice…and told someone about it (usually my kids or something)…and it doesn’t feel great to me….so I stopped telling anyone…

I know BIG ME (my inner being/soul) knows…you may say God knows…whatever works for you.

Do something NICE for someone else…

and do not tell ANYONE about it.

See how it makes you feel.
