Why Yes, I am a bit stressed.

How’s it going today?

We have been doing a lot of challenging things over the past two weeks!

Have you noticed?

Today…our challenge is modified from the “Don’t Sweat The Small Stuff Workbook” by Richard Carlson, PH.D.

Since I don’t have a dr. associated with my name, I like to share things from folks who do.

I wouldn’t want you to think I just dream this stuff up!

Here is a Google sheet of today’s PLAY SHEETS:

The first part is about becoming more stress tolerant…by figuring out where you are now.

Actually, both are.

Here is the first part…I am going to attempt to copy and paste it here…

It is UGLY…but in case you can not get to the Google version…at least you have the info here.

Please don’t get frustrated with me…I do not have it in me tonight to figure out how to format this is an attractive way…

Step One:

Lower Your  Stress Tolerance Play Sheet
Do you want to lower your stress tolerance? Read each statement below and rate them as follows: 0=never 1=sometimes 3=often 4=always
Then…think about the 2 and 3 rated items. Come up with some ways of lowering your stress in these areas first!
My Rating Now Date:
Rate At the end of our 30 day chronic pain challenge
I wish I could get more work done than I do now.
I wish I could get by on less sleep.
Having to stop work for meals is a drag.
I don’t have time for everything I want to do.
I have so many things to do, I don’t know what to do first.
Finding time for family and friends gets harder all the time.
When I have free time, all I can think of is work.
I can’t relax.
I must find a way to make more money–soon.
People expect too much of me.
I don’t know how I’ll measure up.
I wish I could do better than I am doing.
I’m worried about my future.
I have so many problems that I don’t know what to do.
I wish I could solve all my problems.
I wish I knew wht I was meant to do with my life.
I wish I could get some sleep.
I don’t know how to deal with my chronic pain.
I wish the pain would just go away.
I feel like I am letting other people down….myself down.
I wonder if it is all worth it.
I wish I could get answers from my health care providers.
I wish my family, friends really understood what is going on with my health.
Having to put up with chronic pain on top of everything else is overwhelming.
I am frustrated with my health.
Just for the fun of it, let’s total up your ‘score’

Step Two:

Stress Warning Signs…
Which of these do you have? How often? What are they trying to SHOW you?
Let’s do another Before and After Rating
Now: Yes No Frequency? Severity? Warning Sign
What can you do about it?
Frequent headaches
Muscle tension or spasms
Stomach problems
Excessive sweating
Rapid or pounding heartbeat
Frequent illness
Feeling of being overwhelmed
Frequent temper
Confusion or forgetfulness
Restlessness or lack of concentration
Weight change
Obsessive or compulsive behavior
Drug use (including alcohol and tobacco)
Worry or fearfulness
I did not make this list, but it is a good one..
I did not realize how many of my behaviors are STRESS-RELATED!!!

Now you SEE why I am such a PLAY SHEET and Google Docs, Sheets…fan.

As a Quality Manager (nerdy engineer) I love numbers and data and Excel!

Give me a graph or pie chart and I get absolutely giddy!

So what can we learn about our self and STRESS today?

I already have come to discover the huge impact stress has had on my life and my health.

I did not believe it then…

but I know now,

and it WILL…

if you don’t take the bull by the horns (don’t recommend this actually)

and get control of your stress.

If you have been watching the videos, you know why I know this.

Stress Less

Ways to Stress Less…Which do you do?

From today on…

at least until the end of this challenge…

let’s commit to one another to do what ever we can to

reduce the impact of stress in our lives!!!

I mentioned that I did a 30 Day Stress Challenge last year about this time on my blog…

I was under so much ‘business stress and pressure’ (actually not of my own making, but I did attract the situation for some reason)…I had to do it TWICE.

It absolutely SAVED me.

I got through a situation that would know most people out of the game for good…

not with grace and ease…

but with relatively little negative impact to me.

Stress Free Friends

Be with those who bring out the best in you, not the stress in you.

Third: Power Thought Card

“I only give out that which I wish to receive in return.  My love and acceptance of others is mirrored to me in every moment.”

Fourth: Afformation

Nature Of Infinite Love & Gratitude Card:

“The authentic expression of my emotions creates the opportunity for me to find or stay on my true path.  My feelings are not right or wrong…they are guiding me toward my authentic nature.”

Sixth: Question?

How can I lower my stress today?  (How can I be more stress-resistant?)

Thrive ro Reduce Stress

Less Stress

Seventh: Today’s Share Challenge

Share one continuous improvement you make in your life today…

Something Even Better...

Something EVEN Better…

That’s it for today.

Chronic Pain may be a part of your life, but it does not have to be your life.

See You Tomorrow,

Pain Killer

P.S. Don’t forget to share today!
There is so much we can learn from each other.
